Call for Committee Members


Are you a professional or scholar working to empower and inspire women?
Are you looking for more ways to engage the UL Lafayette and Acadiana community?
Are you passionate about gender equity, leadership and development?

Apply to join the 2022 Women’s Leadership Conference (WLC) Committee!

As a member of the WLC Planning Committee, you will be expected to attend at least 75% of our monthly/bi-weekly meetings from August 2021 to May 2022. You will have an opportunity to shape the agenda and influence the Women's Leadership Conference experience. You will also receive a discounted rate for attendance at the 2022 Women's Leadership Conference.

In particular, each committee member is expected to serve on one of the following subcommittees:

Registration
  • Coordinate registration materials
  • Print and assemble conference badges
  • Assemble conference bags
  • Plan and coordinate day-of registration table
  • Provide regular updates of registration report
Content
  • Review and evaluate presentation proposals
  • Contact and confirm keynote speaker
  • Contact and confirm breakout speakers
  • Collect all speaker information for the conference program
  • Plan for speaker facility needs (parking, A/V, etc)
Location
  • Contact and confirm conference location
  • Arrange pre- and post-conference meetings with venue staff
  • Coordinate room layouts and facility needs
  • Facilitate catering options and selections
  • Coordinate day-of room set-up (décor, signs, etc)
Exhibition
  • Contact and confirm potential exhibitors
  • Follow up with exhibitors for registration and payment
  • Coordinate with exhibitors throughout the planning process
  • Distribute information to exhibitors in preparation for the event
  • Coordinate day-of exhibition table set-up
Promotion
  • Create Save-the-Date card
  • Design invitations, flyers and conference program
  • Send advertisements to local media outlets
  • Create Facebook event page and social media posts
  • Coordinate day-of media requests for interviews
Hospitality
  • Review and evaluate Women's Leadership Awards nominations
  • Contact and confirm Women's Leadership Awards recipients
  • Design and order plaques for Women's Leadership Awards
  • Solicit donations for speaker gifts and door prizes
  • Send Thank You notes to all speakers and donors
